Step 4: Where are you going to place the wine cabinet
Rotation direction of door
When selecting a wine cooler, take into account the rotation direction of the door. It is always annoying to find out after your purchase that the cooler does not fit in the corner as nicely as you thought, for example, because when the door is open it's in the way of another door. In the specifications of each product, the rotation direction of the door is mentioned. In addition, it is mentioned whether the rotation direction is adjustable.
Built-in?
It is also important to consider in advance whether you want to built-in the wine cooler, for example in the kitchen. You can't just built in every wine cooler. Each product is indicated whether it is suitable to built-in. Whether a wine cooler is suitable for built-in installation depends on the refrigeration technology. The thermo-electric cooling technology is not suitable for this, for example. You can read more about the different cooling techniques in step 5: different cooling techniques.
Placement in a cool room
If you place the wine cooler in a cool room, such as the garage, barn or basement, it is recommended to choose a model with a winter function. A wine cooler with winter function, can not only cool but also heat if the ambient temperature becomes cooler than the set temperature for the wine cooler. As soon as the ambient temperature falls below the set temperature, the winter function is activated. The wine cooler will then heat up so that the set temperature is maintained.
